THE STAGES OF A NEW HOME'S CONSTRUCTION

Building your home is one of the biggest decisions of your life. Your home is your identity. That's why it's crucial that you know what is to be done at every step of your home construction. It's important to know the various stages of your home building journey, so you can plan and track your new home's construction.

Step No.1

The first step to building your house is laying a strong and solid foundation. First, the site is cleared of rocks and debris. Before starting excavation, ensure that the layout markings are as per the plan. Your construction team will level the site, and dig holes and trenches for laying the foundation.

Once the concrete is poured, it should be left to set and then thoroughly cured. After curing, it's best to do waterproofing and anti termite treatment. UltraTech ILW+ is ideal for laying a damp proof course. Then, your team should backfill the area around the foundation walls with mud.

Step No.2

Once foundation is set, the next step is to make the structure of the house. This includes the installation of plinths, beams, columns, walls, roof slabs along with the frames for windows and doors. Rooms will be divided, showing you exactly how your newly constructed house will look. Make a note of 1 and columns around the house, as they carry the load of majority of the structure. This is the most important stage of construction as this decides the strength and structure of your home. Supervising is therefore crucial to your new home's construction.

Step No.3

After the concrete structure of your house is ready, you can start installing the plumbing and electrical systems. Ensure your electrical boards and switches will be accessible to you after moving in. The sewage pipes should always be below the drinking pipe to avoid contamination. For concealed electrical work, PVC conduit with wires pipes are set up inside the walls before plaster. This is not only aesthetically appealing, but protects the wires from elements like humidity, temperature, and rodents. Once this is done, the walls are plastered.

Step No.4

Once the walls are plastered with a wall finish, windows and doors have to be installed. Windows and doors provide insulation and ventilation, so speak to your contractor about the right materials to be used.

Step No.5

Finally, your construction team will lay down the tiles, install electrical boards, cabinets, kitchen countertops etc. Once all elements are installed, your home can be painted or plastered with wallpapers. Consult with your family members about the finishing decor for your home.
