Decarbonisation

We have embedded decarbonisation as a core principle in our operations. Through coordinated actions across our operations and value chain, we are systematically reducing emissions and progressing towards our long-term commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. We follow a structured decarbonisation pathway that integrates energy efficiency enhancements through substitution of fossil fuels with alternate fuels and reducing clinker factor content and production of blended cements. These efforts are complemented by green logistics across road, rail, and waterways, through the use of electric vehicles, optimised rail networks, and National Waterways for bulk material transport. 

Innovation remains central to our long-term decarbonisation journey. We continue to evaluate and deploy emerging technologies that can accelerate emissions reduction, including digital process optimisation, advanced energy management systems, Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), and next-generation low-carbon cementitious materials.

Water Stewardship

Water is critical for the continuity of our operations. Few of our cement plants are in water-stressed regions of the country and we consistently work towards rejuvenating resources through our 3R approach - reduce, recycle and reuse. Our efforts in this direction have led to UltraTech successfully becoming 5.8 times water positive in FY26.

In line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 - clean water and sanitation, we not only conserve water but we also rejuvenate its sources. Initiatives like rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, water recycling, pond deepening, integrated watershed management etc. are standard operating procedures across our manufacturing units.

Nature and Biodiversity Management

UltraTech is committed to conducting its business responsibly and recognises the importance of biodiversity and associated ecosystem services for the long-term sustainability of its operations. The Company takes concerted actions to protect, restore and promote all forms of life in the ecosystem. UltraTech recognises that business can have an impact on the local ecology and is aware of the important role it must play in protecting biodiversity and the ecosystem.

We are committed to No Net loss which is in line with the Aditya Birla Group & UltraTech’s Biodiversity Policy. We commit to undertake biodiversity risk and impact assessment across all our Integrated Units, to strengthen responsible land use practices. This commitment is anchored in establishing a science-based understanding of ecological sensitivities and supporting our long-term ambition to achieve 'No Net Loss' by 2050.

We also incorporate biodiversity impacts into our sustainability governance framework and enterprise risk management. Biodiversity risks, including quarrying impacts, habitat loss, and species loss, are identified through site-level assessments, and assessment outcomes inform long-term land-use planning, quarry life management, and rehabilitation strategies. Our progressive and post-closure rehabilitation strategies encompass habitat restoration and native species regeneration, with all actions aligned with regulatory requirements and our commitment to No Net Loss.
