Water Stewardship

Water is a critical natural resource across our operations and value chain, essential to core processes such as cooling, dust suppression and emission control. Recognising its importance, we take a holistic and responsible approach to water stewardship, one that minimises our environmental impact, supports communities and strengthens climate resilience. Some of our cement plants are in water-stressed regions of the country. We acknowledge this as a risk for us and hence have taken concerted efforts towards mitigating it and becoming self-reliant.

Initiatives like water consumption reduction, rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, water recycling, pond deepening, integrated watershed management etc., are standard operating procedures across our manufacturing units. UltraTech also builds capabilities on water and sanitation-related programmes to ensure the availability of this precious resource.

Key Achievements

  • Achieved water positive status of 5.8 times.
  • We continue to save water by constructing water harvesting structures and deploying water-efficient techniques. We have harvested and recharged 14.04 million m3 water through our community interventions in FY26.
  • 9.65% of the water withdrawn is recycled and reused.
  • Successfully reused, recycled, harvested and recharged more than 143 million m3 of water in FY26.
  • Promoting water storage facilities by converting mine pits into reservoirs, construction of check dams, rainwater harvesting structures, pond de-siltation and watershed management.
